The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) is gearing up for the 81st edition of the Indian 1000 Guineas, the first Indian Classic of the Mumbai Racing Season 2024-25, scheduled to be staged on Sunday, December 15, at the Mahalaxmi race course. JSK1, an offshore gaming and entertainment enterprise, is the title sponsor.
Fifteen fillies are set to compete in this mega event, chasing a total prize of ₹5 million with the winner claiming a purse of ₹3 million.
Ms. Manara Chopra, actress and model will be the chief guest and will present the trophy to the winner. JSK1 will also host a lucky draw for all entrants and the top three prizes are a fridge, washing machine and a microwave.
Trainer Pesi Shroff’s filly Psychic Star, which won the Golconda 1000 Guineas at Hyderabad, is in great heart as evidenced by her morning trials and should score over her rivals.
Rajesh Narredu’s Excellent Lass, which clinched victories in the Mysore 1000 Guineas and the Bangalore Fillies Championship, both over a mile, but fell short in the 2000m Hyderabad Derby, has a chance to redeem herself.
Jade, also from Shroff’s yard, who has two Class 3 victories in her last two starts, appears to be in excellent form and could emerge as a serious contender.
Dallas Todywalla’s Field Of Dreams, who ran third in the General Rajendrasinhji Million (at Pune), may upset.
