Summer rain is likely to continue for a few more days, triggered by the cyclonic circulations over south Tamil Nadu and south Andaman. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad on Saturday, warning of isolated heavy rain.
An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over south Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood, and another over south Andaman and neighbourhood in the lower tropospheric level. Under the influence of these systems and confluence of moist winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is very likely at isolated places over Kerala until April 6, said a weather bulletin on Friday.
