World under-20 medallist Priya Malik (76kg) got a chance to go for a bronze medal in the World wrestling championships in Zagreb on Tuesday.
Priya experienced a 2-4 reversal against Ecuador’s Genesis Reasco, but qualified for the repechage when the latter secured a place in the final.
Vaishnavi Patil (65kg) eliminated Latvia’s Elma Zeidlere 3-1 before being pinned by Mongolia’s Enkhjin Tuvshinjargal in the quarterfinals.
Ankush (50kg) suffered a slim 5-6 loss to Natalia Varanika, and World under-20 champion Tapsya Gahlawat (57kg) was tamed 2-4 by Bertha Chavez of Mexico.
Sujeet Kalkal (65kg) was beaten 7-5 by USA’s Real Woods, and Vicky (97kg) was defeated 4-0 by Bulgaria’s Akhmed Magamaev in the repechage round to get out of the bronze medal race.
