A 38-year-old woman was killed after allegedly being assaulted by her husband over a family issue in Guindy on Tuesday (July 15, 2025) night. The 44-year-old husband has been arrested by the Guindy Police on charges of murder.
A senior City Police official said the couple, Ezhil Murugan and Suguna, lived in a rented house in Nagireddy Thottam, Labour Colony. Suguna had a hearing impairment and also suffered from respiratory issues.
On Tuesday night, after Ezhil Murugan returned home from work, a dispute over a family matter broke out between him and Suguna. During the altercation, he allegedly slapped her, causing her to faint. Her family members immediately took her to a private hospital in West Mambalam, where she was declared dead.
Following an alert, the Guindy Police sent Suguna’s body to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem examination and arrested Ezhil Murugan.
