When is Hindu New Year celebrated and its profound significance | The Times of India

On Hindu New Year, people perform various rituals and customs to invite prosperity and blessings into their homes.
Men, women, children, all come together to decorate and adorn the homes with colourful decorations, rangolis, mango leaves, Aipan and much more. Families come together to perform puja ceremonies, seek blessings for a prosperous year, make different kinds of Prasad and what not. Special dishes and sweets are prepared and offered to the Gods and to guests and neighbours, to receive the blessings of abundance and good fortune. Plus, many communities organise cultural events, processions, fairs, competitions, etc to celebrate the occasion.
