The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Thursday arrested a Sub-Inspector (SI) of police posted at the KUC police station under the Warangal commissionerate for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000, officials said.
According to the ACB, the accused officer, identified as P. Srikanth, was trapped at around 5.50 p.m. along with his private driver, Md. Nazeer of Warangal district, who acted as an intermediary. The bribe amount was reportedly demanded from a complainant for issuing a notice, facilitating the early filing of a charge sheet, and securing the release of seized vehicles and mobile phones.
Officials said the bribe was accepted through the private individual at KU junction in Warangal. The tainted amount of ₹15,000 was later recovered Md. Nazeer.
Both the accused were arrested and will be produced before the special court SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. Further investigation is underway, and the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB reiterated that those facing any demand for bribes by public servants can contact the bureau through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made through the ACB’s official social media platforms, including WhatsApp and X. Officials said the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
