UDF candidate wins bypoll in Purameri panchayat in Kozhikode

Puthiyottil Ajayan of the Congress, who represented the United Democratic Front, won the byelection to the Kunjallur ward of Purameri grama panchayat in Kozhikode district on Tuesday. He garnered 619 votes against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate from the Left Democratic Front, K.V. Vivek, who got 599 votes. Mithun of the Bharatiya Janata Party got 30 votes. A total of 1,248 votes were polled in the ward with an electorate of 1,523.
