Two Indians, Thai woman held in Nepal with 4.3 kg cocaine

The Nepal police have arrested three foreign nationals, including two Indians and a Thai national, in two separate incidents in connection with possession of 4.3 kilogrammes of cocaine on Tuesday (December 24, 2025), officials said.

According to the officials, a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team from Koteshwar nabbed the foreign nationals, who arrived in Nepal via air route, from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, Sinamangal area. The Indian nationals Xavier Mathew Thaliachery, 55, and Mursalen Hussain, 21, have been arrested from Sinamangal area near Kathmandu along with 3.75 kg cocaine. Hussain, who arrived in Kathmandu from Laos via Singapore was arrested on Tuesday (December 24, 2025) from the roadside at Singmangal, along with the narcotic drug.

In the second incident, the NCB sleuths arrested Thai national Rusanee Kama, 40, along with 550 gram cocaine in her possession. She had arrived in Kathmandu from Laos via Bangkok. Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths arrested her during a special operation at her hotel at Singmangal. The police have recovered 12 plastic coated capsules containing cocaine from her room.

Initial probe revealed Rusanne swallowed 29 cocaine pills to evade police arrest, which got recovered after admitting her in a nearby hospital. So far, the police recovered 41 cocaine capsules in total from her possession. The police have initiated legal action against them in connection with the drugs under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act 2033 B.S. taking them into judicial custody after securing permission from Kathmandu District Court.
