In a suspected case of honour killing, a 20-year-old youth was axed to death allegedly by the father of an 18-year-old girl with whom he was in love during his birthday celebrations at Muppirithota village in Eligaid mandal of Peddapalli district on Thursday night.
The gruesome murder of the youth identified as P. Saikumar on his birthday has caused a flutter in Muppirithota.
Sources said that the accused identified as Mutyam Sadaiah allegedly nursed a grudge against Saikumar over the latter’s alleged relationship with his daughter. He was averse to their inter-caste relationship as both belong to separate castes among backward classes, sources added.
Armed with an axe, he allegedly hacked Saikumar to death during his birthday celebrations at a farm in the village on Thursday night, leaving his friends and family members shattered.
The Sulthanabad police have registered a case and launched an intensive search to nab the accused, who is at large.
