West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on Tuesday (February 18, 2025), questioned the silence of the Union government over deportees from the U.S. being brought back to the country in chains.
“The Prime Minister should have protested against it. The deportees could have been brought with some dignity,” Ms .Banerjee said while participating in debate in the West Bengal Assembly.
Ms. Banerjee added: “Centre should have sent our transport planes to bring back deportees from the U.S.”
On the Maha Kumbh, Ms. Banerjee claimed Maha Kumbh has become ‘Mrityu Kumbh’. “Why was such a hype created over the event without any planning?” she wondered.
The West Bengal Chief Minister further said “I am accused of being a member of the Muslim League, I condemn such remark,” and alleged that “BJP MLAs afraid of facing me that’s why they boycott the House whenever I speak.”
