DMDK deputy general secretary L.K. Sudhish, former MLA B. Parthasarathy, and the son of DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant, Vijaya Prabhakaran, met Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder Vijay to invite him to an event marking the first death anniversary of late DMDK founder Vijayakant, scheduled for Saturday.
The personal invite to Mr. Vijay was expected, especially after he paid his respects to Vijayakant following his death last year. Vijayakant had starred in guest roles in some of Mr. Vijay’s films early in his career as a favour to ensure their saleability.
“We didn’t speak about politics at all. Mr. Vijay told us he would attend the function,” Mr. Parthasarathy said.
With speculation rife that the AIADMK could rope in the TVK as part of its alliance, Mr. Vijay’s presence at the DMDK founder’s first death anniversary assumes significance.
