Ending her 46-day-long hospitalisation, Uma Thomas, the Thrikkakara MLA who sustained serious injuries following a fall, was discharged from a hospital here on Thursday (February 13) evening.
Ms. Thomas had sustained injuries to her lungs and spine after she fell from a temporary stage that was built in the gallery of the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor on December 29 last year. She went to the stadium to attend a mass Bharatanatyam performance in which around 12,000 dancers participated.
It was alleged that the temporary stage was set up without following the safety protocol. The police had registered cases against the organisers of the event following the accident.
Doctors have recommended rest for the MLA for a few more weeks and restrictions on visitors. The hospital authorities also organised a send-off for her.
People from various walks of life, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governors and Ministers, had visited her at the hospital.
