Three women of a family found dead at an apartment in Kolkata

Three women, including a teenager, from the same family were found dead on Wednesday (February 19, 2025) inside an apartment in Kolkata’s Tangra area. 

Senior Kolkata Police officials, including Commissioner Manoj Verma, visited the scene and confirmed that two of the deceased were elderly women, while the third was a teenage girl. Commissioner Verma stated that the post mortem would determine whether the deaths were due to suicide or murder.

“Two bodies have injuries on them. The body of the teenager has no injuries. Post mortem will confirm the exact nature of injuries,” the Commissioner said.

Mr. Verma also mentioned that other family members of the deceased were involved in an accident earlier on Wednesday morning under the jurisdiction of the Garfa Police Station..

“What are the reasons behind the incident? Whether the family members are involved or others are involved in the accident, the police are investigating,” he said.

The family members who were injured in the accident have provided statements that are being verified by the police. While some items have been recovered from the crime scene, the investigation is still in its early stages, and the Commissioner refrained from divulging details of the recovery.

“The bodies were recovered from three different rooms. The injuries on the body were on the wrists,” Mr. Verma said.
