Mayank G. Mattur and Hemansu V.M., the duo from Sri Kumaran Public School, who were the title winners in the Junior category in 2024, became the winners in the Senior category this year continuing their winning streak at The Hindu Young World Quiz which was held at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on Wednesday.

“This is a very memorable victory for us. This time, we had the expectation of defending our championship, so we had to live up to it. Like Rafael Nadal, the tennis player, once said—that the second time was the toughest,” the duo shared with excitement.

The Quiz, presented by State Bank of India, was open for school students in two categories; Junior (class 4-6) and Senior (class 7-9). More than 800 teams from the two categories participated in the quiz hosted by Quiz Master V.V. Ramanan.

The team of Gautam K. and Arya R. Jannu from BNM Public School and Shreyan Chhetri and Sai Srinivas N.S. from Delhi Public School took the first and second runners-up positions, in the senior category followed by the teams from National Public School, The Samhita Academy and Sishu Griha taking the fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Arya S.K. and Medhansh N.M. from Presidency School, Nandini Layout were the winners in the Junior category. “The prelims were tough. At the last moment, we won,” they said. Gian M. and Srivatsa Sundararajan from Airaa Academy were the first runners up followed by Aryesh Mukherjee and Shervesh Mohan from Sri Kumaran’s CBSE becoming the second runners up.

The teams from Sherwood High, The Samhita Academy, and Jaigopal Garodia Rashtratthana Vidya Kendra took the fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Pradeep Nair, Deputy General Manager (B&O), State Bank of India, distributed the prizes to the winners and said, “I would like to express my gratitude to The Hindu Group for its long-standing association with this quiz over the years. We are committed to maintaining this partnership and look forward to many more years of collaboration.”
