Simultaneous polls an attempt to create a nation without elections, says K.C. Venugopal

One Nation One Election is an attempt by the BJP to create a nation without elections, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said in Belagavi on Tuesday (December 17, 2024)

“is clear that One Nation One Election is an attempt to transform a country without elections. This is the main agenda of the BJP. They have no faith in electoral democratic process. They are bringing such a concept to destroy the values of democracy. Each State, whether it is Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur or Jammu and Kashmir has its own uniqueness. We have to celebrate this diversity. Unity in diversity is the strength of this country. But the BJP does not believe either in democracy or in diversity. One Nation One Election can never be implemented in India. However, we know that the BJP could get it approved it in the Parliament.”

He said that the Congress Working Committee meeting scheduled in Belagavi would discuss various relevant issues, especially the current political situation in the country. The meeting is scheduled in Belagavi on the 26th, to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s chairmanship of the Indian National Congress plenary session in 1924.

The main issue will be the BJP imposing its ideologies through legal means. The core ideology of the Congress party will also be discussed,’‘ he said.

He said that the party planned to organise the Belgaum Congress session centenary celebrations across the state and country and not just in Belagavi. “Details will be chalked out in the CWC meeting,’‘ he said. He said the CWC meeting was expected to give a new direction to the country’s politics and Congress’s political movement.

Earlier, he held a meeting with senior members to review the preparations for the CWC meeting and the rally. Senior leaders like Ajay Maken, Randeep Singh Surjewala, CM Siddaramaiah, DCM D K Shivakumar Ministers H.K. Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Lakshmi Hebbalkar and other leaders were present.

“Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy as Congress President brings pride in the hearts of every Congressman. He advocated non-violence. He encouraged the party members to fight against the British through non-violence and brought freedom to the country through love and equality. All these are being destroyed under the BJP government. Now there is not even a semblance of equality in the country. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Only the interests of one person are being given priority,” he said in the meeting.

:The union government is putting all public enterprises on sale. All the public assets of the country are going into the hands of one person. BJP is sowing the seeds of hatred and violence against minorities across the country. That is their only agenda. With new laws and rules, they are trying to hijack democratic values,’‘ he said.

“We are fighting against the dictatorial rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union minister Amit Shah. It in such a situation that the CWC meeting becomes very important. Members of the Working Committee, permanent invitees, special invitees, the President of the Pradesh Congress Committee, leaders of the legislative party, members of the Parliamentary Committee, and the presidents of the main units of the party will meet,” he said.

A public rally will be held in Belagavi on December 27. Over a lakh party workers are expected to participate. All important leaders of the Congress party will participate in the rally. The AICC has instructed all the members of the Pradesh Congress Committee to celebrate this moment on the same day and at the same time,” he said.
