Kovur MLA and TTD trust board member Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy cautioned the district officials on the need to maintain hygienic conditions at the school and kitchen premises, besides ensuring quality and taste in the food served to the students under the midday meal scheme.

As part of her inspection of Buchireddypalem mandal on Thursday, she visited the Damaramadugu High School where she tested the quality of food and also consumed the meal along with the students. She also sought the feedback from students on the quality as well as the quantity of food served to them.

Renewing her appeal to the Vidya committees to play an active role in monitoring the quality standards maintained at the school, Ms. Prashanthi also urged the parents to frequently visit the schools so as to instil a sense of responsibility among the administrators.

The MLA took special note of the presence of 283 students at the school, against the total strength of 416 and demanded an explanation from the in-charge headmaster Narasimha Rao. She also specified that the responsibility of curtailing dropouts clearly vested with the school management.

Doctors warned

Responding to the complaints of irregular attendance, unhygienic conditions and non-maintenance of proper documents, the MLA warned the doctors and officials at the Buchireddypalem Community Health Centre (CHC) to mend their ways or face action. She insisted that night duty doctors should be present at the hospital at any cost to treat emergency cases.

She also promised to get the pending additional block constructed and get the vacant posts filled at the earliest.
