The police team investigating the abuse of a Dalit minor girl in Pathanamthitta in Kerala has taken one more individual into custody.
According to officials, a 25-year-old V.S. Arun was arrested from his residence near Elavuthitta on Sunday (January 20, 2025). His arrest will be formally recorded following a preliminary interrogation.
This latest development brings the total number of individuals detained in connection with the case to 57.
Two of the accused remain at large as they are reportedly abroad. Notably, one of the accused, 24-year-old Sudhi Sreeni, is already in jail on charges related to a previous POCSO case registered by the Pathanamthitta police.
The case is being overseen by a special investigation team (SIT) under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General S. Ajitha Beegum.
