Comprehensive quality education programme to raise academic standards: Speaker


The State government’s comprehensive quality education programme is being implemented as part of a mission to improve the quality of public education, Speaker A.N. Shamseer has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the State government’s comprehensive quality education programme in the State capital on Tuesday.

“School infrastructure had improved a lot as part of the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission. On the academic front, a lot was being done. But more improvements had to be made to better academic quality. This was the objective of the comprehensive quality education programme,” the Speaker said.

The programme would help equip students from class I to XII according to the present times. “There is no need to pass everyone,” he said.

He underlined the need to understand children better and nurture their abilities. This should not be done just for the sake of it. Teachers should also make efforts to guard the students’ mental health. They should also be update themselves according to the changes in the education sector.

Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty who presided over the function said the answer scripts of students up to class IX in public schools should be returned after valuation and these should be signed by parents.

The comprehensive quality education programme would be implemented with people’s participation in all schools in the State, he said.

Kerala State Planning Board vice chairperson V.K. Ramachandran delivered the keynote address. General Education Principal Secretary Rani George, Director of General Education Shanavas S., SCERT Director Jayaprakash R.K., and heads of other agencies under the General Education department were present.
