Telangana Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy, who holds the Municipal Administration & Urban Development portfolio, urged Minister for Information Technology and Industry D. Sridhar Babu and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi to name the six lane flyover between Zoo Park and Aramghar after the departed former prime minister and Congress party leader Manmohan Singh.
Terming the four kilometre bi-directional Aramghar flyover the second longest after the 11 kilometre P.V.Narasimha Rao express highway connecting to the airport, Mr. Revanth Reddy said Dr. Manmohan Singh, along with Mr. Narasimha Rao, was the architect of modern India.
Addressing a public meeting after launching the ₹799.74 crore flyover on Monday (January 06), the Chief Minister stressed on the importance of development of Hyderabad and the development of Old City, which he termed as ‘original city’.
When the Hyderabad Metro Rail came into being, it was the second metro railway line in the country, but due to lack of expansion plans over the past 10 years, it has now slid to ninth place in terms of length, he said.
“I had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of Cherlapalli Railway Station, and sought permission for Metro Rail expansion, and Musi development project. I also proposed Regional Ring Rail, and Vikarabad-Kodangal-Krishna railway line,” Mr. Revanth Reddy said, and averred that he would work with any party and any leader for development of the city.
The work on Cherlapalli Railway Station had been stalled due to issues, which were resolved only after Congress party came to power, he claimed.
Vowing to work with the AIMIM and the Owaisi brothers for development of Old City, he said Congress government granted funds for road widening, metro rail, sewerage lines and the flyover in Old City soon after assuming power.
He also promised to take forward several proposals made by AIMIM leaders which included Charminar Pedestrianisation Project, and engineering, junior and degree colleges in Chandrayangutta, and said a meeting will be organised with the party leaders, MLAs, MLCs and officers in order to discuss all the proposals.
Foundation stone will be laid for the Osmania General Hospital within one week’s time, he said. Mr. Sridhar Babu and Mr. Owaisi too spoke at the meeting.
