A total of 72,609 cases were settled during the Lok Adalat held in various courts of Dharwad district in Karnataka on March 8.
During the Lok Adalats held at different courts in the district on March 8, out of the 16,690 pending court cases identified as eligible for compromise, 10,908 cases were resolved. Additionally, out of 63,760 pre-litigation cases, 61,701 cases were successfully settled.
Among them, 16 matrimonial disputes were resolved amicably with the couples agreeing to reconcile and reunite. This apart, 40 cases pertaining to senior citizens were resolved through compromise.
A total amount of ₹9.65 crore was recovered through settlement of pre-litigation cases, and ₹43.26 crore was settled through cases already under trial in courts.
Principal District and Sessions Judge B.G. Rama provided valuable guidance and suggestions to ensure smooth and effective settlement of cases in the Lok Adalat. Senior Civil Judge Parashurama Doddamani described the National Lok Adalat as a grand success.
