Overnight leader Arjun Prasad of Delhi shot a four-under 68 to maintain his lead for the second day on the trot in the Rs. 1 crore Tamil Nadu Open golf, presented by SIPCOT and TANCEM, at the par-72 Coimbatore Golf Club course in Chettipalayam here on Thursday.

After returning with two-under 70s in the first two rounds, Arjun decided to take it one shot at a time. He started the day with a birdie on the second but faltered with a bogey in the very next hole. However, he walked his journey with confidence, stayed focused and fired five birdies on his way back to finish with a three-day tally of eight-under 208 for a six-shot lead.

The 26-year-old, ranked second in the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit, has now strengthened his chances of clinching his maiden title.

“I started well and then had a solid phase with a row of pars where I kept the ball in play. On the back-nine, I started hitting it closer and reaped the rewards for it with more birdies,” said Arjun. “I have hit good tee shots and given myself lots of chances on the greens. Today, I also hit my approaches well. The focus will be on repeating the same and sticking to the basics in the last round,” he added.

Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja has played this course several times in the past and understands it much better than the others. He gained six places following his round of 69 to end the day in tied second at two-under 214.

Noida’s Arjun Sharma (72, 72, 70) jumped four spots to be placed second as well along with Delhi’s Anshul Kabthiyal (74, 69, 71). The 20-year-old came up with a 71 to go up three positions.
