Plans have been drawn to set up a Sports City and Sports University on 220 acres of land in the capital city of Amaravati. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivanath, in a press release, said that the Andhra Pradesh government has already allocated 142 acres for Amaravati Sports University, and an international cricket stadium at the Amaravati Sports City is also in the works.
Shivanath said that the Sports University will focus not only on honing the skills of the athletes but also on providing training to support staff, physiotherapists, coaches, and others. He also stated that many cities across the state, including Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Amaravati, and Mangalagiri, will soon get better sports infrastructure.
