NEW DELHI: 22-year-old Pakistan international Ihsanullah initially announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after being overlooked in the season 10 draft.
However, within 24 hours of his retirement, he reversed his decision, claiming that he had made the call in the heat of the moment and clarified his actions.
Initially, Ihsanullah expressed frustration over the lack of recognition despite his consistent performances, leading him to step away from Pakistan’s premier T20 competition.

However, in a recent interview with a Pakistani media outlet, he shared his disappointment at being overlooked during the draft held on January 13, stating that his decision to retire was not well considered and was rather an impulsive one.
The pacer also claimed that he would make the doubters “chase him”.
He acknowledged that his friends and family had influenced his decision, stating, “When I wasn’t picked in the PSL draft, my friends and family also messed with my head, and I announced retirement in the heat of the moment.”
Ihsanullah vowed to work hard and make a comeback in domestic cricket to ensure he would have buyers next time around.
Ihsanullah’s PSL career has been promising, with 22 wickets at an economy rate of 7.59 during PSL 8 for Multan Sultans, earning him a spot in Pakistan’s T20I squad.
However, an elbow injury and subsequent controversy over the handling of his recovery derailed his progress.
After months on the sidelines, he made his return to competitive cricket in the Champions T20 Cup, marking an important step in his efforts to regain form and fitness.
