National champion Lakshya Chahar lost to home favourite Wanderley Pereira 5-0 in a men’s 80kg first round bout of the World Boxing Cup (WBC) Brazil 2025 in Foz do Iguaçu.
Chahar was convincingly beaten by Pereira, a 2023 World championships middleweight silver medallist competed in the Paris Olympics in 80kg.
M. Jadumani Singh (50kg), Nikhil Dubey (75kg), Jugnoo (85kg) and Narender Berwal (+90kg) will compete on day two of the WBC Brazil, the first such event of the year after the new international federation, World Boxing, gained provisional recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and boxing was included in the Los Angeles Olympics.
