After electing to bowl, Chennai Super Kings bowlers put Mumbai Indians under extreme pressure by restricting them for 155 for 9 during the IPL 2025 match in Chennai on Sunday (March 23, 2025).
Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmed, bought by Chennai Super Kings for ₹10 crore, was in the limelight in his first game. He struck telling blows to put Mumbai Indians on the backfoot. Noor Ahmad took 4 for 18. Khaleel Ahmad finished at 3 for 29. 1
Sent into bat, Mumbai Indians lost Rohit Sharma in the first over. Khaleel Ahmed removed former Mumbai captain without scoring. Khaleel then removed Ryan Rickelton for 13 and Mumbai were 21 for 2.
Coming back into the Chennai Super Kings team after a long time, Ravichandran Ashwin proved his worth by removing Will Jacks for 11. Mumbai were 36 for 3. Then Suryakumar Yadav (29) and Tilak Varma (31) added some valuable runs to take Mumbai to 87. A lightning stumping from M.S. Dhoni sent back Suryakumar Yadav.
It was all over for Mumbai Indians with the dismissal of Tilak Varma. Mumbai Indians were restricted for 155 for 9. Deepak Chahar played a cameo towards the end to take the total past 150.
