The Non-Resident Tamils’ Welfare Board has requested the Union Minister for Railways for special trains to facilitate the return of Tamil Nadu students and workers from Punjab, Delhi, and Jammu & Kashmir. In his letter, the board chairperson, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, cited receipt of numerous appeals from concerned parents and individuals seeking immediate return to Tamil Nadu, due to the security situation in these areas. “The students and workers are reportedly facing significant anxiety, uncertainty, and logistical challenges in making their way back safely,” he said. He also wrote to the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, requesting for special flights for their return.
