Pawan Kalyan’s latest action-drama ‘They Call Him OG’, directed by Sujeeth, is getting a fresh twist.Fans were puzzled when the highly anticipated special song featuring Neha Shetty, shot in Bangkok last year, was missing from the theatrical release. The actress had teased the track on social media, fuelling speculation.Talking to M9 News, composer Thaman has confirmed that the song will be officially added to screenings from Monday (September 29). He explained that while the song initially disrupted the film’s flow, the team has reworked its placement to seamlessly fit into the narrative.
Action-packed drama continues to impress
OG casts Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a man emerging from exile to confront the rising mafia of 1980s Bombay. The film also marks Emraan Hashmi’s Telugu debut as the underworld figure Omi Bhau, with Priyanka Arul Mohan, Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Shaam completing the ensemble. Sujeeth directs this stylish thriller, combined with the stunning visuals by cinematographers Ravi K. Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa and, Navin Nooli’s tight editing, and Thaman’s magnificent music. An excerpt from the ETimes review for the film reads, “Director Sujeeth leans heavily on star power, often at the cost of layered storytelling and character arcs. Several subplots are undercooked, and familiar tropes such as the wife’s murder and the daughter’s kidnapping feel formulaic. Thaman’s rousing soundtrack, however, injects energy into the action sequences.”
Box office trends show steady recovery
After a thunderous opening, OG saw a sharp drop on its second day but stabilized over the weekend. Early estimates by the Sacnilk website, suggest the film collected Rs 18.50 crore net on Day 4, bringing its India net total to Rs 140.20 crore across all languages. Telugu shows recorded an average occupancy of 39.14%, Tamil at 16.63%, and Hindi at 9.23% on Sunday.
