NIA searches houses of suspected Maoist sympathisers in Chinturu, seizes electronic gadgets, incriminating documents

Officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at the houses of a few villagers, suspected to be Maoist sympathisers, in the Chinturu area, and seized digital devices and some incriminating documents.

The NIA raided multiple locations in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in connection with the Maoists’ supply chain case registered in the Chinturu police station in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district.

Searches were conducted on the premises of seven accused in the case, following the arrest of two accused, while they were carrying explosives, incriminating literature, and cash.

The NIA, which took over the investigation in September, detected a large network involved in the supply of explosive materials and logistical support to the underground cadres of the CPI (Maoist), the officials said in a release on Thursday.

“The conspiracy is aimed at carrying out terrorist acts and attacks, including killing of police personnel engaged in election duties,” the officials said.
