The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh marches into 2026 with an aim to further consolidate welfare-driven growth and sustainable development, after recording significant achievements in 2025 by successfully balancing people-centric welfare initiatives with rapid economic and industrial development.
As per the data from government sources, the government marked 2025 as a landmark year by fulfilling a majority of its election promises, winning the confidence of people through inclusive governance.
During 2025, the government implemented its flagship Super Six welfare programmes with notable success. Under Talliki Vandanam, ₹10,090 crore was directly credited into the bank accounts of mothers, benefiting 67.27 lakh students.
The Stree Shakti scheme emerged as one of the most popular initiatives, with free bus travel for women launched on August 15. So far, 3.25 crore journeys were recorded at a cost of ₹1,144 crore, earning widespread appreciation from women. The benefit was later extended to persons with disabilities.
Farmers received support under PM Kisan-Annadata Sukhibhava, with ₹6,310 crore credited to 46 lakh farmers. Through the Deepam–2 scheme, three free LPG cylinders per year were provided to women, involving an expenditure of ₹2,684 crore and distribution of nearly two crore cylinders.
Social security pensions crossed a historic milestone of over ₹50,000 crore in 2025. Fishermen were supported under Matsyakara Bharosa, auto drivers received direct financial assistance, and welfare measures were extended to minorities, priests, weavers, toddy tappers, goldsmiths, and junior lawyers.
Employment generation also remained a priority. The government conducted the Mega DSC, recruiting 15,491 teachers, and completed recruitment of 5,757 police constables, while enhancing stipend and extending gratuity benefits to Anganwadi workers and ASHAs.
The revival of Anna Canteens strengthened food security, with 204 canteens serving over four crore meals across the State.
On the development front, Andhra Pradesh topped the country in attracting investments during 2025. The CII-Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam resulted in 610 MoUs worth ₹13.25 lakh crore, with a potential to create over 16 lakh jobs.
IT and AI sectors expanded rapidly, including the proposed establishment of a Google AI Data Centre in Visakhapatnam. Capital construction in Amaravati gained momentum with investments exceeding ₹50,000 crore, while infrastructure, irrigation, power, healthcare, and governance reforms contributed to a robust economic growth rate of 11.28%.
Crime rate declined with stricter enforcement and with the establishment of the Eagle Task Force against drugs. The State witnessed improved governance through WhatsApp governance and data-driven decisions.
The government prepared a three-region master plan to develop all the three regions — Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Tirupati. During the year, the government was able to revive around 90 central schemes, secured support for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and attracted semiconductor industries, expanded highways and railway projects. Two new districts were approved, increasing the total number of districts to 28 from existing 26.
With welfare and development moving in tandem, the government has now outlined ambitious priorities for 2026, including addressing revenue challenges, ensuring dispute-free land for farmers, expanding social security, boosting wealth creation, and accelerating industrial growth.
With strengthened welfare delivery, record investments, and improved governance, the coalition government steps into 2026 with renewed confidence to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development across Andhra Pradesh, a release said.
