Mixed response to State-wide bandh in Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts

The State-wide bandh, called by activist Vatal Nagaraj and supported by various pro-Kannada organisations, evoked a mixed response in Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts on Saturday.

The two districts witnessed demonstrations which were supported by various groups of farmers. In Chamarajanagar, activists held placards and threw tomatoes on road in protest. In Mandya, a bike rally was taken out through the town and some of the traders voluntarily shut down the shops.

A few KSRTC employees joined the protest in Mandya and sought protection for drivers and conductors plying on inter-State routes. Some of them claimed that they too had faced intimidation when operating outside the State.
