Sai Akhil Anand, son of chess icon Viswanathan Anand, is gearing up for a solo art exhibition in Chennai called ‘Morphogenesis’ that will feature elements of math and patterns.
The 14-year-old has nursed a passion for art for a few years now. His upcoming exhibition will also feature a series called the ‘Bindu Bovine’ and the ‘UnBinary’ series – inspired by the geometric works of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian – apart from a series on ‘animal superheroes’, Akhil’s personal favourite. The Anands – both Viswanathan Anand and his wife, Aruna Anand – are big cheerleaders for their son’s pursuit of art. “Chess and art are similar,” says Anand, “I’m happy to share what art means to the family.”
