Maintain cleanliness at beaches, officials urge people

Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board officials conducted a special cleanliness drive on the beaches of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts on Saturday, marking International Coastal Cleanup Day.

At Peddaganagallapet beach in Srikakulam mandal, the Environmental Engineer of Srikakulam Karuna Sri led a rally and other awareness programmes. In Vizianagaram district, Environmental Engineer B.B. Sarita and Ritesh Yadav, Nodal Officer from the Forest Department, organised a cleanliness drive at Chintapalli beach in Pusapatirega mandal.

They urged students and members of the fishing community to maintain strict cleanliness on the beaches. In addition, a plantation drive was carried out near the beach. Ms. Sarita also appealed to tourists to avoid using plastic bottles and cups while visiting beaches and other tourist spots.
