The Ashok Nagar traffic police in Bengaluru are searching for a truck driver who is on the run after being involved in an accident that caused the death of a 36-year-old woman and injuries to her husband at Mayo Hall junction on M.G. road on June 9 evening.

The truck was carrying waste material. While going from Cauvery Emporium junction towards Mayo Hall, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two cars that had stopped at the signal, said the police.

In a bid to escape from the spot, the driver knocked down a bike and crashed into a signal light pole before the vehicle came to a halt.

Anjali, 36, who was riding pillion, fell of the bike and came under the moving truck while her husband, Vijaya Kumar, 40, sustained multiple injuries. Vijaya Kumar is a businessman.

Passers-by rushed the couple to a nearby hospital where Anjali was declared brought dead while Vijaya Kumar was treated for his injuries.

Sensing trouble, the driver abandoned the truck and fled from the spot.

The Ashok Nagar traffic police registered a case of hit-and-run based on a complaint by Hameej P.K., driver of the car which was damaged in the accident.

The police have asked the FSL team and a team of experts to ascertain the exact reason for the accident.
