Anurag Kashyap: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on his plans of getting married | – Times of India
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is known for his hit films like ‘Udaan’, ‘Manmarziyaan’, ‘Dev D’ among others. Anurag was earlier married to twice, however both his marriages didn’t last. In a recent candid chat with his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap for her podcast ‘Young, Dumb & Anxious’, Anurag Kashyap opened up about his views on relationships and getting married again. When asked if he would like to get married again, Anurag revealed that he realised he is not a relationship person. And so, a third marriage is not on the cards anytime soon.
Explaining this, Anurag told his daughter Aaliyah during the podcast, “I have realised that I am not a relationship person. I can’t because I am obsessed with my films, my work, and the kind of films I make. I would have been very good in relationships if I had been born in Europe and made films there. Because there is a royalty system. Because the money would keep coming in. But here, there is no royalty, there’s no system like that. So I have to make more films at a higher frequency as compared to someone who is working with a big star, who is making one film in five years.”
For the unversed, Anurag was earlier married to Aarti Bajaj, a film editor, with whom he has his daughter Aaliyah. In 2011, he got married for the second time with actress Kalki Koechlin, however they too got divorced in 2015. He also dated assistant director Sabrina Khan, but they broke up within a year. Later, Anurag found love in Shubhra Shetty, who was an assistant director at Phantom Films. Anurag even posted pictures of the two and made his relationship Insta-official. However, Anurag hasn’t posted anything about her for quite sometime now.
Responding to Anurag’s views on “not being a relationship person”, his daughter Aaliyah teased him by saying that for a long time she hoped that her divorced parents would date other people and she might get a sibling soon. “Since I was a kid, I was an only child. I thought since you and mom are divorced, both of you will date different people, and I will get at least one sibling from one of you,” Aaliyah said. However, Anurag dismissed this by saying, “Your father has become old for that now.”
