LDF not just a front, but a symbol of hope and united struggles, says Binoy Viswam

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is not just a political alliance; it represents the hope and spirit of united struggles, said  Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Binoy Viswam.

Addressing a State-level workers’ convention of the CPI as part of its national campaign and the 68th anniversary celebration of Kerala’s first communist government here on Saturday, Mr. Viswam emphasised that criticisms, both internal and external, by the CPI on issues like drinking water and agriculture only serve to strengthen the LDF. He asserted that any attempts to isolate or attack the LDF’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would not be tolerated by the CPI. “The government cannot be weakened; the goal is to attain power for the thrid time,” he added.

Role of party

Highlighting the role of the communist party and C. Achutha Menon in Kerala’s major advancements, including land reforms, Mr. Viswam reminded that Achutha Menon was the architect of the 1957 communist government’s manifesto.

“Any attempt to overlook Achutha Menon’s contributions is historically and politically incorrect. The CPI always respects history and truth,” he said. This commitment was reflected in the campaign boards celebrating the anniversary of Kerala’s first communist government, which prominently featured the image of former Chief Minister E.M.S. Namboodiripad. “Truth cannot be erased by political differences,” he said.

The function was presided over by CPI national executive member K. Prakash Babu. Senior leaders such as Pannian Raveendran, K.P. Rajendran, national council members Rajaji Mathew Thomas, Sathyan Mokeri, and Ministers K. Rajan, G.R. Anil, J. Chinchurani, CPI Thrissur district secretary K.K. Valsaraj, among others, attended the event.
