Koutala police help build home for homeless orphan sisters

Koutala police took the initiative to help ensure a permanent roof over the head for two homeless orphan sisters from Bodampally village in Koutala mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.

The sisters — 30-year-old Lakshmi and 27-year-old Shyamala — had lost their parents more than a decade ago and were living in abject poverty, additionally, one of the sisters is paralysed, adding to their challenges. Their plight was highlighted by a Bodampally-based youth G. Srinivas, who posted it on social media, and sought help from philanthropists.

Moved by their situation, the Koutala police, led by sub-inspector of police Madhukar, along with the help of the local community, constructed a house under the district police outreach initiative – ‘Police Mee Kosam.’

On Monday, the police handed over the newly-constructed house to the orphans in the presence of Kumram Bheem Asifabad Superintendent of Police D. V. Srinivasa Rao at a function in Bodampally.
