Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V. Narayanan offered prayers at the famous Sri Chengala Parameswari temple (also called as Chengalamma temple) in Sullurpeta town of Tirupati district on Tuesday.
The temple at Sullurpeta is considered the gateway to Sriharikota island, where the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) is located. It has been a practice for the ISRO authorities to visit this temple ahead of satellite launches and pray for the success of the ensuing missions.
On their arrival at the temple, Mr. Narayanan and his team of ISRO officials were received at the threshold by Assistant Commissioner of Endowments and Executive Officer B. Prasanna Lakshmi.
After praying at the sanctum sanctorum, the priests showered Vedic hymns (Vedasirvachanam) on the ISRO team, blessing for the mission’s success.
