The Kodumon police have arrested a male home nurse for allegedly assaulting an Alzheimer’s patient under his care and dragging him naked across the floor. The accused has been identified as Vishnu, a native of Kollam. His arrest followed a complaint lodged by the relatives of the victim, Sasidharan Pillai, a former BSF soldier currently residing in Thatta village, near Kodumon.
The incident came to light after Vishnu shifted the victim to hospital, claiming that he had sustained injuries after falling off the bed. However, CCTV footage from inside the house revealed the brutal assault that had actually occurred.
According to officials, Vishnu had been recruited about one-and-a-half months ago through an agency in Adoor to care for the patient. Sasidharan Pillai had been living alone, as his wife and daughter are currently away from home. The victim, who suffered severe injuries in the assault, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Parumala.
