Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha launched ‘Suraksha Committees’ and inaugurated 1,000 CC cameras in NTR Police Commissionerate on Wednesday.
Ms. Anitha, along with Director General of Police (DGP) Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Shivanadh, flagged off the Eagle vehicles on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister lauded the efforts of the NTR Commissionerate police for giving a top priority to public safety. She thanked the donors who gave the CCTVs to the police, which will enhance vigil and provide more security.
Mr. Tirumala Rao asked the police personnel to update their skills and use the latest technology to serve the people better.
“A target has been set to install 1 lakh CCTVs across the State by the March-end this year. I thank the NTR Police for involving the public in the initiative,” the DGP said.
Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu explained about the functioning and use of the apps and the programmes such as ‘Cyber Citizens’, ‘e-Pahara’, ‘Cloud Patrolling’, ‘Astram’, ‘Falcon’ and ‘Cheruva’.
As many as 28 ‘Suraksha Committees’ have been constituted for all police stations in the Commissionerate, the Police Commissioner said.
MLAs, police officers and the donors participated in the programme.
