Hari Hara Veera Mallu, starring Pawan Kalyan, opened to strong but not record-breaking numbers at the box office on Thursday, collecting ₹44.20 crore net in India on its first day, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.
Directed by Krish and Jyothi Krisna, the historical action drama had paid premieres on Wednesday evening, which alone contributed ₹12.7 crore to the total. Thursday’s full-day collections added another ₹31.5 crore, positioning it as one of Kalyan’s biggest openers, surpassing Bro (₹30.5 crore) and Bheemla Nayak (₹37.15 crore), but falling just short of Vakeel Saab (₹40.10 crore).
Despite the strong figures, Hari Hara Veera Mallu couldn’t top the biggest Telugu opener of the year so far — Ram Charan’s Game Changer, which brought in ₹51 crore on day one. It did, however, outperform recent releases like Daaku Maharaaj (₹25.35 crore), Sankranthiki Vasthunam (₹23 crore), and Kuberaa (₹14.75 crore).
The film, produced by A.M. Rathnam and featuring music by M.M. Keeravaani, sees Kalyan in the role of Veera Mallu, an outlaw in the Mughal era. Nidhhi Agerwal plays a Devadasi named Panchami, while Bobby Deol appears as Aurangzeb.
With five years in the making, the film faced multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Kalyan’s political engagements. Unlike some of his past releases, the actor participated in promotional events for the film.
