Four persons were killed and another three sustained injuries when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided head-on on Tuesday (May 13, 2025) morning, near Sivapuram village under Vinukonda police station limits in Palnadu distrtict of Andhra Pradesh
The accident occurred around 9:30 am when a coconut-laden lorry heading from Markapuram to Vinukonda collided head-on with a Bolero Max vehicle, which was coming from Yerragondapalem to Vinukonda with seven passengers onboard, the district police informed.
The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the death of four individuals on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Pagadala Subbamma, her husband Ramana Reddy, Bottu Ankamma, and her husband Ramanji — all residents of Gaddamedapalli village in Yerragondapalem mandal of Prakasam district.
Three others — Pagadala Sivamma, Kanneboina Naga Lakshmi, and the Bolero driver Kadiri Nageswara Rao — sustained injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Vinukonda for treatment.
Violation
According to preliminary information, the lorry was travelling in the wrong direction when it collided with the Bolero. The lorry driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Police have registered a case and launched a search to trace the absconding driver.
Further investigation is underway.
