‘Phule’, the biopic on social reformers Jyotirao Govindrao Phule and Savitribai Phule, is set to release in theatres on April 25.
It was originally supposed to release on April 11, but it has been delayed due to objections raised by the Brahmin community and not because of the censor board-suggested amendments, film’s director Anant Mahadevan said.
In an interview to The Hindu, director Mahadevan talks about the controversy surrounding the movie, why today’s youth should take inspiration from them the Phules, why he feels Indian society is not self-critical enough and more.
