Over the past few months, there have been speculations about the composers behind the songs and background music of Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. Reports had stated that Devi Sri Prasad, the composer of the first Pushpa film, has only composed the film’s songs and that Thaman S, Sam CS and Ajaneesh Lokanath have together composed the background scores of the film.

Now, just 2 days before the film’s release, composer Sam CS has confirmed his involvement in the film’s background score. In a post on his official X handle, the composer reflected on his journey with Pushpa 2 and expressed his gratitude to the film’s director Sukumar for the opportunity.

“@alluarjun sir, Thank you and you have been so kind, scoring BGM to you gave me that extra zest, truly fire (sic)“ he wrote.

“For the man behind the lenses, director #sukumar @SukumarWritings sir, I’m grateful to share a moment working with you on this Magnum opus, especially working on that power packed fight scenes & climax is a whole different experience (sic)“ he added.

This comes just a few weeks after composer Devi Sri Prasad stirred a controversy during the audio launch event of Pushpa 2: The Rule. During his speech at the event, DSP allegedly took a dig at the film’s producer Ravi Shankar, stating that the producer has more complaints on him than love, and that, “we should ask and take what we want, whether it is payment from producers or screen credit.”

For quite a few months, there have been speculations of a rift between the producer and the composer allegedly due to DSP’s failure to deliver the background scores of the film on time. In media interactions that followed the audio launch event, Ravi Shankar clarified that there was no bad blood between him and DSP, and that he has no issues with whatever the composer said on stage.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the blockbuster 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the film is set to release in theatres on December 5. A rural crime drama centring on sandalwood smuggling, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings.
