Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai on Monday (March 31, 2025) announced that his party workers would raise black flags against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his scheduled visit to the State on April 6, 2025.
The black flag protest will be organised in all the district headquarters in Tamil Nadu over the “imposition of Hindi, three-language policy, lack of allocation of funds towards disaster relief and towards school education, among others,” Mr. Selvaperunthagai said in a statement.
“Since assuming office, the BJP government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been deceiving Tamil Nadu and Tamils through [its] anti-democratic efforts,” Mr. Selvaperunthagai charged, and highlighted the delay in granting funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme and for the Chennai Metro Rail project, among others.
