Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday (February 1, 2025) expressed joy about the newly presented Union Budget. While speaking to reporters in Mumbai, he said, “I thank PM Modi ji and FM Nirmala Sitharaman Ji for a dream budget. This will give a massive benefit to the middle class, the newly employed. This will lead to an increase in expenditure. MSMEs will benefit. This will lead to employment generation. A bold step taken, is what I can say about the budget. It is a milestone for India’s financial progress.”

“In the agriculture sector, 100 districts have been identified. Pulses mission – the value chain which will be generated, there will be 100 per cent procurement by the government.”
“For the fisherfolks, credit limit has been increased. In MSMEs, credit enhancement will help. This will lead to maximize employment benefit.”

He further said, “Maharashtra is the country’s start-up capital. Our youth and start-ups will benefit. New infrastructure pipeline generated. Due to the PPP pipeline, due to asset monetisation, it will lead to a lot of benefit. In the 21st century, this budget is the budget of a developed India, showing how India is becoming an inclusive and mature economy.”
Mr. Fadnavis said the infrastructure loan announced in the Union Budget to State governments is ‘path-breaking.’ “The start-up ecosystem and the 50-year infrastructure loan will be immensely helpful for Maharashtra,” Mr. Fadnavis said.
Mr. Fadnavis also welcomed the announcement on the 200 day care centres for cancer care in government hospitals to be set up in Maharashtra.
The decision on oilseeds will also increase the income of the farmers. “Maharashtra is a cotton-growing State. The new mission will benefit Maharashtra immensely. Till now, Centre used to procure 25 per cent. Now, it will be 100 per cent. This will increase farmers’ incomes,” the Maharashtra CM said.
