Senior Indian Administrative Service officer K. Sanjay Murthy on Thursday (November 21, 2024) assumed office as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
The 1989-batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre succeeds Girish Chandra Murmu, who demitted office on Wednesday. Prior to this, Mr. Murthy was Secretary in the Department of Higher Education of the Education Ministry. He has also served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, as Chief Executive Officer of National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation and as Joint Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Murthy at a function in the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
