A single message to Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT and Education Nara Lokesh turned into a life-saving mission, facilitating a crucial heart transplant. Mr. Lokesh personally funded a special aircraft and ensured a green channel to transport a donor heart from Guntur to Tirupati in record time.
The donor, Cherukuri Sushma, was declared brain-dead at Ramesh Hospitals, Guntur, following a severe health condition, said Mamatha Rayapati, Deputy Managing Director of the hospital at a press conference here on Thursday. With her family’s consent for organ donation, doctors immediately sought assistance to transport her heart to a recipient awaiting a transplant in Tirupati, Dr. Mamatha said.
Understanding the urgency, Mr. Nara Lokesh swiftly arranged for a special aircraft at his own expense to transport the heart and coordinated with authorities to create a green channel ensuring an uninterrupted, fast passage from Guntur to Tirupati. His timely intervention helped overcome logistical hurdles and made what seemed impossible a reality, she added.
