A total of 582 students who completed their graduation in engineering sciences and 17 postgraduates will be awarded degrees during the 15th graduation day ceremony of SDM College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET) in Dharwad on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference in Dharwad on Thursday, SDMCET Principal Ramesh Chakrasali said that Director of Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) Girish Maraddi will deliver the convocation address during the ceremony scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
Secretary of SDME Society Jeevandar Kumar will preside over the graduation day ceremony.
Prof. Chakrasali said that with a CGPA of 9.99, K.N. Bindu from the Chemical Engineering Department has bagged the gold medal instituted in the name of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade.
He said that during the ceremony, 28 candidates who have received doctoral degrees from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and other universities will be honoured with certificates of appreciation.
This apart, endowment awards will be presented to meritorious students who have secured top ranks in their respective departments and the top three scorers from each department will receive prizes, he said.
Prof. Chakrasali said that SDMCET has signed 25 MoUs with various companies for the purpose of education, training, research, internships and employment and during the year, over 90 companies have made job offers to 518 students.
