The on-field tension began in the ninth over when Head hit Maxwell for consecutive sixes. After Head attempted to make room, Maxwell delivered a quicker-length ball that Head hit back to him, leading to Maxwell throwing the ball towards the keeper.

Head took offence to Maxwell’s actions, resulting in a verbal exchange between the two players. The incident escalated when Stoinis intervened, prompting Head to dismiss him while the umpire called for calm.
The match saw Head’s dismissal three overs later, caught by Maxwell off Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling.<\/p>\n

Head later downplayed the incident in his statement to broadcasters: “It’s all fun. I think they probably bring the best and the worst out of you when you know each other and play each other so much. So, yeah, a bit of friendly banter between us, but it’s all good. I got to put up with them at home, so nothing to it.”
The game featured exceptional batting performances from both teams. Punjab Kings posted 245-6, with Shreyas Iyer scoring 82 and Marcus Stoinis contributing a quick 34.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s response was dominated by Abhishek Sharma<\/a>‘s remarkable 141 off 55 balls, marking his first IPL<\/a> century. His innings stands as the third-highest individual score in IPL history, behind Chris Gayle’s 175 not out and Brendon McCullum’s 158 not out.<\/p>\n

Head complemented Sharma’s innings with a solid 66 runs off 37 balls, featuring nine fours and three sixes. Together, they established this season’s highest partnership of 171 runs.
The successful chase by Sunrisers Hyderabad ranks as the second-highest in IPL history, falling short of Punjab’s record of 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens the previous year.<\/p>\n
