On March 11, 2025, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) carried out its biggest attack in its nearly 25 years of operation against the Pakistani state when its militants assaulted the Jaffar Express.
Twenty-one passengers and four paramiltary soldiers were killed by militants who seized a train in Pakistan’s Balochistan.
In recent years, the BLA has significantly expanded the scale and sophistication of its operations – conducting more than 150 attacks last year alone – culminating in this recent train hijacking.
